Samsung Labs researchers have created an advanced neural head avatar technology that can reach megapixel resolutions. This technology makes use of driving images, which are videos of a person making different facial expressions and movements, to generate motion graphics where the individual’s face is synced with the movement. The team has applied this system to both historical figures and modern celebrities for realistic results. To tackle such a difficult task, they developed new neural architectures and training methods.
