Alpa is designed to make training and serving large-scale neural networks like GPT-3 straightforward, cost-effective, and available to everyone. With just a few lines of code, Alpa can automate distributed training and serving on a large scale. The system was initially developed by researchers from Sky Lab at UC Berkeley who then published their advanced techniques in the OSDI’2022 paper. Since its release, the Alpa community has grown with contributions from tech giants such as Google, Amazon, AnyScale, and more.
