Google recently showcased its latest experimental language model, LaMDA (Language Model for Dialogue Applications), at the I/O conference. The company demonstrated how LaMDA was able to converse with people in two scenarios – pretending to be Pluto and a paper airplane. During the conversations, LaMDA referenced facts such as the New Horizons probe visiting Pluto in 2015, proving it is capable of understanding specific details. Despite this success, there was an amusing mistake made by both Pichai and LaMDA-Pluto – they referred to Pluto as a planet when it is actually a dwarf planet!
